The Arboratree Story

Connecting People to Plants
“When I Look into Nature, I can understand everything better”
Failure is a key learning pathway, as I was reminded at the Business School at my University. I had an idea for an urban horticultural start-up that I considered worthwhile, so I tested it with support from academic staff. Long story short my idea was a non-starter. I had 'failed fast' as my professor told me, which was a positive outcome, as it meant that I was able to cut my losses early. It also meant that I had successfully applied the art of developing a start-up concept, and the science of prototyping and testing. From this experience I began to build Arboratree - Plant Doctor.
This Is Us
I am a conservationist, innovator, and communicator, committed to community driven solutions for a fairer, smarter and more resilient society.
It is my tendency to care deeply about our world. People and places have great meaning for me. I like to see things improve and I am not afraid to challenge the status quo.
I have had the privilege to work on projects that are important to me. I have twenty five years involvement in protecting natural environments, and much longer as a gardener and landscaper, crafts I first learned from my grandmother as a child.
I have worked in Kakadu National Park, managed some of Sydney's public parks and gardens, many other beautiful wild places, and currently work with First Nations communities.
Working with a wide range of people makes my life richer. I don't make judgements quickly or easily, but I am always thinking and honing my problem solving skills, building teams and learning.
I have been awarded for my community and public service including with a Centenary of Federation Medal (CFM).
